The event that will most likely cause a postindustrial society to begin developing solar energy technologies is the lack of fossil fuels. The fossil fuels are the main energy producers, so if a situation comes where there reserves are coming to an end, in order for a society to be able to continue to function properly and further develop, it will need to come up with new ways of producing energy. The solar energy is an excellent choice for developing technology that will be able to use its potential. The Sun is a constant source of energy, and while that may differ from one season to another in accordance to the climate conditions, it can still be an extremely useful source of energy that will cover up big portion of the demand for energy.
