Phagocytes are white blood cells that protect the living systems by ingesting pathogens or dying cells. They are divided into two classes, which are neutrophils (granulocytes) and monocytes (macrophages). The major difference between the two of them is that, neutrophils function as phacocytes only in circulation while monocytes function within the tissues. The two types of cells are specialists in phagocytizing invading pathogens in human system. Neutrophils and macrophages usually migrate to sites of injury or sites of invasion through chemical signaling.
