The central dogma of molecular biology states that information flows in one direction from DNA to RNA to protein.

According to central dogma of molecular biology, shortly descripition of how information flows through the biological system would be: DNA makes RNA and RNA makes protein. The dogma explains general and special transfer of information:

The general transfer:  

•DNA copied to DNA (DNA replication),  

•DNA copied into mRNA (transcription),  

•proteins synthesized using the information in mRNA as a template (translation).  

The special transfer:  

•RNA copied from RNA (RNA replication),  

•DNA synthesised using an RNA template (reverse transcription),  

•proteins synthesised directly from a DNA template.
