Explanation: Friedrich Miescher  was the person to identify DNA which he called nuclein. This term was later converted into nucleic acid and then deoxyribonucleic acid or DNA.

He identified DNA in the white blood cells of human being.He was a chemist was going to study about white blood cells. He was observing a pus coated bandage in a local surgical clinic.

He washed the bandage in the water and observed a structure nuclei who has more phosphorus content compared to that of other cell. This structure was resistance to proteolysis.

This led to the conclusion that this structure was something else called as nuclein (now DNA).
