Potassium (chemical symbol K, atomic number 19), a member of a group of chemical elements called alkali metals. Potassium ions are crucial nutrients for living organisms. The hydroxide of potassium is an significant industrial chemical that is used in fertilizers.

Beryllium is a member of the alkaline earth metals family and positioned at the top of group two of the periodic table. Beryllium alloys are used in the production of structural and lightweight materials for space vehicles, missiles, high-speed aircraft, and communication satellites. The thin sheets of beryllium foil are utilized with X-ray detection diagnostics because the foil can filter out visible light as well as allow only X-rays to pass through.
