I don't play guitar, but I do play cello, so I'll try to help you best I could.

When I first started playing cello, it was in my school orchestra in 6th grade. I think it's best if you play for a certain amount of time every day. Play different songs so you don't get bored from one song.

If you don't have a teacher or anyone to teach you, you can try asking a friend or someone you know to teach you. If that's not possible, there's always you tube. Once you learn how to read the notes though, you might not need someone to teach you as you can print out note sheets yourself and play them.

It's makes it much more fun to play an instrument with other people. I used to feel that my daily orchestra class was like a break time from schoolwork. Now I feel like the music I play that used to need to whole orchestra is so quite, now that I moved.

Another helpful place is Pinterest. I taught myself in a matter of two weeks all the notes and some basic songs. Pinterest will have chord charts, note charts, and free sheet music.
