The Journey of Claude Debussy Listen to the following 4 movements from Claude Debussy's Petite Suite 1: En Bateau.
As you listen, create your own narrative for our main character, Claude Debussy. I have started
the story for you but I would like for you to use the music as inspiration to create 4 different
environments for our character.
Begin thinking big. What does the city look like? What time of day is it? What is the
weather like? Is he alone? What is he wearing? What is he doing there? What is he planning to
do? Keep in mind that there are 4 movements (sections of the piece) total so leave some room
for development as your character moves from one environment to the next.
Most importantly, make sure there is an ending!
Our character for today will be known as Claude Debussy, but you can call him Deb.
Deb is beginning his journey into the unknown in the beautiful city of Paris in 1905. He has just
finished meeting with his friend, Monet, and they are both departing a cafe 10 blocks from the
Eiffel Tower. As he steps into the street...
