The stages of clay:
slip: liquid clay.
plastic clay: clay that can be worked but still keeps its form.
leather hard: clay that is stiff but still damp. can still be joined with other clay.
chocolate hard: clay that is stiff and had little dampness in it. can not be joined.
bone dry: clay that is completely dried out. very fragile!
greenware: any clay that is formed and unfired.
bisqueware: clay that has been fired once, usually around 1830 degrees.
glazeware: clay that has been fired with a thin glassy layer on the surface.
