What features of sikhism created a distinct religious community

Sikhism is a monotheistic religion that is one of the newest religions in India. It evolved from Hinduism and Islam, but Sikhism is not a mixture of these religions, but a separate religion. To the Sikhs, God manifests Himself in many ways, but mostly in places of pilgrimage as well as in temples. The Sikhs began building shrines and temples to mark important sites and events in Sikh history. Many Sikh shrines are called Harimandir, which means temple of God. The Sikh's largest and most important religious center, the Golden Temple is a symbol of the Sikh religion that helps to understand the spiritual values of the Sikhs and the impact of the past on the present. The whole temple complex consists of stone columns, surrounded by a large pond that gave the city the name of Amritsar. In the middle of the pond is the Golden Temple.
