So it completely is determined by your pain tolerance. If you cannot stand that much pain, then it would hurt significantly more than if your could handle a large amount of pain. It all really just goes down to either being mentally or physically stronger. Because your brain is programmed to protect yourself from harm, hitting yourself is an internal conflict.
